Breaking Barriers, Sentral ResidencesBukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur
Though often overlooked, the interior and spatial planning of a home is crucial for a families with growing children. This couple of a 20-year old home at Desa Kiara recognised the need for a makeover for their 2-year old daughter and decided to part ways with their poor living condition.
We created an open space that’s practical for daily chores and up-keeping of their home. Unnecessary walls were torn down to minimise a claustrophobic feeling and helps with supervision of their child at all corners. What was once a bedroom without a bed, they are now incorporated with low-level furnishings for convenient storage of toddler items.
Seeing a kitchen space was relatively small, we modified the door and removed a wall to minimise constriction of movements within the kitchen - a seemingly simple solution that makes a big difference for daily errands.
The unit got a major makeover, with minimal superfluous items to keep life easy for the parents to manage their young one.
Desa Kiara
